As British American Tobacco South Africa, we will continue to work hard to realize the future of this country and protect the jobs created by our operations during this unprecedented period.

During the Covid-19 lockdown, the government banned the sale of tobacco products. The ban lasted for nearly five months. After the implementation of the ban, the illegal cigarette trade flourished. The impact of the pandemic challenged us to change the way we work, and we are proud of what we have accomplished. It is our rich culture that makes us unparalleled in the face of such events and adversity.

We are bold, fast, empowered, responsible and diverse, with great people and an engaging culture that are key to successfully delivering our strategy. We are committed to our vision, which is to build a better tomorrow by reducing the health impact of our business through offering a greater choice of enjoyable products to our consumers.

The pandemic has caused damage and overwhelmingly affected the South African economy. The lockdown caused a shift in the market share of cigarette brands. As the world continues to survive with the growing impact of the pandemic, we remain committed to the belief that our people will take personal responsibility to prevent the virus's transmission by practicing good hygiene and observing other health protocols as required.

A special thank you to our employees, customers, business partners and shareholders who continue to support us as a business and contribute towards the growth and success of BATSA.
