Sustainability Report 2010

In March 2011 we published our latest Sustainability Report, marking our 10th year of reporting. It continues to focus on the five areas of our sustainability agenda - harm reduction, marketplace, environment, supply chain and people and culture - and highlights some of our key opportunities alongside the biggest challenges we face.

BAT awarded top prize for Sustainability performance at COP 17

British American Tobacco (BAT) received recognition from the Global Carbon Disclosure Project for our Sustainability performance at COP 17 on Tuesday 6 December 2011. In addition, the company received a 4th place Gold Certificate for its carbon disclosure.

Every year, over R3 billion in tax revenue is lost due to illegal cigarettes. That's the equivalent of the cost of more than 44 000 new policemen or 60 000 new homes.
