Mauro Frota began his career as a marketing trainee at Shell in 1992, rising to become Head of Marketing Finance & Planning for Shell Brazil. He joined British American Tobacco in 2003 as a mid-career recruit. Mauro’s first role with the Company was as Key Account Manager in his native Brazil, and went on to hold various positions within both Brand Marketing and Trade Marketing & Distribution (TM&D).
Following this, Mauro took on an international assignment in London, working for Pall Mall IBG in 2010. After 3 years, he joined the Americas team as Regional Head of TM&D before being appointed Area Marketing Director for Southern Cone, in September 2014. In this role, Mauro was acknowledged as being instrumental in achieving the excellent commercial results for the Southern Cone, leaving the Area in great shape to reach BAT’s 2020 Ambition.
He then took over as Head of Marketing for the Southern African Area in October 2017, and currently resides in Cape Town, South Africa.
Mauro is an Engineer and holds a Master in Business Administration from Universidad Federal do Rio de Janeiro(Brazil). He also has an Executive MBA from Fundacao Dom Cabral and from INSEAD. Mauro is Brazilian, descendent from a Spanish family, married, with one child.
